Angel in my Garden

Angel in my Garden.jpg

This is the angel in my experimental garden. When I was working I would be away from home from 5:30 a.m. until 6:30 or 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and the weekends were so precious to me that I wasn’t able to really do any gardening. I kept flowers In pots on the porch and deck so that I could keep them watered, but to actually dig up the ground and put in a flower garden was much too time consuming. We have an herb garden, but once they naturalize there is little maintenance since they grow like weeds.

Now, my dear husband has tilled up an area next to the woods where I have my bird feeders and bird bath and I have planted flower seeds; zinnias, marigolds, bachelor buttons, astors and some spring and fall bulbs and as sort of another type of experiment, blackberry vines.

It gives me great joy to see the results of my efforts and to enjoy the colors of the flowers that are blooming. I did have a few small blackberries, but the birds ate them before they ripened fully. That also gave me joy because while I am in the presence of nature, I feel part of nature and feel that the more I give to the planet, the better it will be.

The Garden Angel is out of focus and I really had to take 4 or 5 shots of her and each one had a green iridescent where my eye only saw shadow. My husband commented that “that’s because she is an angel”. The only way I got the green out was to change the colors with my computer.

So, there you go. Believe what you may, but I believe angels are out there and they help us in many ways, least of which is showing us how to make this a better place to be.

Spring Rain

It rained all night, the thunder rumbled
As I arose, the storm was far in the distance and only soft, life giving rain was falling
April showers to bring May flowers from seed that I had carefully sown
The purple finch trilled at the woods' edge and thanked me for breakfast that I had supplied
I listened to the drip, drip of water on the walk and took a breath of clean, crisp morning air and
thanked my God for his artistry created at that moment, for me

Random Acts of Kindness

I recently spent four days with my sister who lives in Tallahassee, Florida with the dual purpose of seeing the movie "Sex and the City" and attending a workshop entitled "Intuition and Creativity. We missed the movie, but instead had a wonderful time visiting and shopping and getting caught up on family news. We had a wonderful supper on Friday night and I was able to visit with my beloved nephew and chit chat about baseball and other topics he was interested in. My husband and my brother-in-law had played golf all afternoon and were tuckered out to say the least, since the temperatures hovered around the mid-90s and as my nephew says, "It's as humid as a swamp in Tallahassee this time of year!" Early next morning we set out for our workshop which was conducted by two therapists (one of abused children and the other of veterans) and I met the most wonderful women there! We all related our experiences with our intuition and creativity but to my surprise, we were taught that we can actually tap into energy that is around us all the time to improve our intuition and creativity! Wow! What a wonderful piece of information! Next they explained about the 7 chakras that each of us possesses and again, there was the WoW factor!

We were invited to participate in guided meditation to help us tap into this energy through our chakras and as we progressed, the room actually started to feel electrically charged! Believe you me, this girl from South Alabama who never heard about meditation was blown away!

Toward the end of the workshop we mingled and met the other members of the workshop. I was so pleased and honored to know these women and several of them thanked me for coming because my insight helped them in some small way. I felt the same as some of the insight of the other women helped and inspired me to start writing again.

Finally, we were taught the importance of continuing on our journey of enlightenment, education, creativity and love for others and that if we all practice performing random acts of kindness that our world will be a better place, bit by bit.

Freedom

I wish I was a bird

I could glide on the wind without a care

Only searching for sustenance and feed my babies

A nest so secure to rest at night and then leave at sunrise

Again to savor what the earth has to offer
