After getting a very good breakfast at The Cody, we ventured out to the Trail Riding place and found out it is closed for the season. We learned that all of the attractions here close on September 30th and some places close sooner, as the employees need to find jobs for the winter! So we decided that it was not to be. Onward to "Cassies", formerly a saloon and brothel, where John got to have his Mountain Oysters! This place is so interesting. They have a real hardwood dance floor with live music every weekend 52 weeks of the year. I got lots of pictures as they speak way louder than words!
The first picture is of a portion of the photograph of all of the members of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, taken in New York. Buffalo Bill is seen in this portion of the picture. The others are from Cassies.
More pictures from Cassies, with a shot of John's Mountain Oysters and salad. I had an Au jus french dip and salad. The steak here is to die for. It comes from local ranches and it is better than I have ever eaten. Black Angus, grass fed. Yummy! After lunch we went back to the trail riding place, as the gate was open to the horse pen, even though the office was closed. These horses were so curious and friendly. When we walked up to the pen, they all started to mosey over. They let us pet them and were so gentle. I think that they were wanting a snack, though, because they kept sniffing our hands!!!
Next we headed to Old Trail Town with original artifacts from the old west. The owners have moved buildings from all over the area that were still standing and took them apart and put them back together at this site. All of the buildings are original and all of the furnishings are the genuine article. Most were handed down through the generations and then donated to the town. We saw so much that it was sensory overload after about an hour. I have posted some of the best pictures of examples of what is kept there.
