We had a long but excellent day today. Leaving Riverton, WY winding our way to Yellowstone. We were amazed, astounded and awed at the beauty and majesty of this part of our great nation. Our first stop was at Grand Teton National Park. We spent about 4 hours in both this park and Yellowston. We spent the day just gawking and taking pictures and just thankful that it was not crowded! We have been at the right place at the right time this day. I was starving and when we found the restaurant the park ranger recommended, it was closed!! But, we found out that Old Faithful was due to spout in about the time it would take us to get there. So, if we had been able to eat at that restaurant, we would have missed it! Everyone there was there for the same reason as we were. To view the glory that is Yellowstone. It never ceases to amaze me that when a large crowd of people congregate to share in spectacular event, that everyone is polite and friendly.
We were able to get pictures of almost all one our list of animals to photograph. We got the Elk stag and doe, Deer, Buffalo and Big Horn sheep! We are going to explore Cody tomorrow, as there are lots of amazing things to do here. On Friday, we will go back through the park to connect with the road that will eventually lead us to Portland, OR. We are hoping to get our last two animals; Wolf and Grizzly bear!
I cannot begin to explain to you the glorious vistas here. The mountains are all composed of different rocks. It's hard to believe that they all exist in one place. I have pictures of some of them. Also, we were blessed with a sprinkle of rain and photographed two beautiful rainbows! Y'all know what they say about rainbows. I could go on and on about Yellowstone, but I want to get the pictures posted and settle in for a nice steak dinner!! I recommend this park to everyone. It is super wonderful!
